Bria Bloom
As parents, we want the best for our children. We want them to have happy, meaningful, and fulfilling lives, and we do our best to make sure we are supporting them to get there.
School culture tells us that learning in a particular way is necessary in order for our children to attain a good life — that learning needs to happen in school, that knowledge gaps mean our children might fall behind, and that policy makers know what and how our children need to learn. However, there is a growing body of research and experience that proves otherwise —— that agency, self-determination, and self-direction, with a connection to a supportive community, are the ways that children and adults can thrive, not just in their learning, but in their lives.
Parents likely have a lot of questions about what this means, how it looks in practice, and how it will support their children. Join Bria Bloom as she talks through Self-Directed Education, common parent concerns, and how to support parents on this path alongside their children. There will be lots of time for interaction, questions, and engagement in this session.
